Exam Information
Details about the departmental examination pattern, dates and eligibility.
As per Notification-II (dated 14 May 2025), the Departmental Examination 2025 is scheduled for 8 September to 15 September 2025 (6 exam days).
All objective papers are online MCQ format (except ITO Paper 4 which is descriptive/offline). Each paper has 100 questions worth 100 marks with a 2-hour duration.
- Correct answer: +1 mark
- Wrong answer: −1/8 mark (negative marking)
- Unattempted: 0 marks
Candidates must score a minimum of 50 marks in each paper to pass. For SC/ST candidates, the minimum is 45 marks per paper.
As per the 2025 CBDT notification, all candidates (including SC/ST) are allowed a maximum of 10 attempts for ITO and ITI examinations. There is no age bar for appearing in these exams.
